Set your camera in Black and White, Avoid any extra background, crop and adjust the orientation of your photos, avoid harsh light/shadow.

Create text over path/curve, modifying path and shapes, Create texture to use as fill.

We use Wikipedia Random article option to choose your client.

They band/singer must be active anytime after 1960.

Next class due: A dedicated Pinterest page to your Project 3 | Album Release (singer/band)

Name your board as GMD144 | Project 3 | Album Release | Fall 2019

Make sure your board is public even if your main account is private.

Make sure you are collecting right assets. Pay attention to quality and quantity of your research.

Don't stop at Pinterest, pull images from other websites as well.

3 mood boards with 3 different approaches and methodologies

Each board will have it's unique feel and visual.

Write down some style or genre you would like to use for example:

• I like Typographic style.
• I like using organic shapes.
• I like using straight edge and geometric shapes.
• I like flourish design.
• I like surrealism
• I like sci-fi scene
• I like colorful composition
• I like photo montage
• I like manipulating real photos
• ...

 

Not all styles will be useful, but this the way you know what language you may use for your project.

 

Project 3 - Phase 2

Methodology and Mediums

Download and print your Methodology sheet [Here]

At least 5 pairs of methodologies and mediums in your sheet.

We choose 3 methodologies and create 3 Sections under your project 3 board on

Pinterest for next class.

The image you start to work must have acceptable quality (short side at least 1300px)

The image must be close-up portrait or close-up of a product with good contrast in background.
Do not try on landscape, long shot, or animals.

Your design will fit in Letter size/any orientation/150 ppi

Social media design requirements for the Album (UPDATED)

Your Album release campaign ad for: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat.

Must include:

• Artist Name/Band
• Album Title
• Release Date
• Label logo (or department logo) - Only on FB1, FB3, IG2, IG3, TW1, TW3, SN1.

 

Consider the scale and hierarchy of the information for each layout.

Do not try to fill every part of your layout. try to use negative space to create circulation and path for viewer.

For example the size of the label logo should not exceed more than 3% of the entire layout.

Each comp follows different idea.

Consider your calendar has a clear theme you may encourage an act or convey a positive message: quit smoking, voting, volunteering, ...

 

* If your idea needs any Spiral coil binding, I can help you to punch and bind your calendar up to 11 inch which you can use for
 wall or postcard size in two colors; Black or White.

If you are working on Poster format, you will submit 3 comps for poster format.

If you are working on 12 sheets wall calendar or 12 sheets postcards you will submit 3 different comps for One month as example.

 

If you are working on any other ideas discuss your plan how you are presentation your ideas with me before class.

 

This step carry 30% of the project grade.
